Dream Weddings Bridal Show

Chit-chat No Comments »

Wow…what an awesome show!

I spent both Saturday and Sunday at the Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center as one of the photographers at the Dream Weddings Bridal Show.  Let me just say it was INCREDIBLE.  The turnout of future brides was great and I had a chance to talk to many - easily handing out more information than I anticipated.

I’d like to share some photos taken by my friends Rob and Kathy.

My booth - simple, but it showcases some of my favorite large images.

A closer look at the large images in the background - featuring Annie and Eli, Sarika and Atul, Stephanie and Christian,  Dhara and her dad, Amanda and John, Sophia, and Shelah.

One of the many brides that kept me busy the entire two days.

Overall, it was a fantastic show and one that will keep me busy well into 2009!

Shelley and Brian engagement session

Engagement Sessions 2 Comments »

It was a cold and blustery day (relatively speaking) in Houston today but you could never tell.  Shelley and Brian were smoking hot (he even started singing “Too Sexy for My Shirt”!) and we had a great time shooting their engagement session.

Shelley was a bridesmaid at Heather’s wedding which I had the pleasure of photographing on that very lucky day (July 7, 2007).  She also served as my “assistant” during Heather’s bridal session.   Brian’s a lucky guy!

I can’t wait for their wedding in April.  I know it’s going to be a blast.

The original plan was to travel out to Bellville to shoot but we opted to stay close to home instead.  It gave me a chance to try some new locations - with good results.

Playing with some shadows.

Jersey in Tampa

Chit-chat, Portraits 8 Comments »

I just returned from a wonderful experience in Tampa.  I was there to attend the Digital Wedding Forum Convention and part of Imaging USA.

The Convention showcased the top wedding photographers in the world and I was honored to be able to listen to and later on chat with the likes of Jerry Ghionis, Steve and Jen Bebb, Dave and Quin Cheung, Greg Gibson, Huy Nguyen, Susan Stripling, Tony Hewitt, Yervant, Dennis Reggie, and many others at the top in this art.  I also gained tremendous insight and motivation from personal mentor sessions with Andrew and Rachel from LaCour studio and with Daven and Quin Cheung - and their two little boys!

With all this education, I came back with so many ideas on how to improve what I provide my clients that it will likely take most of the year to pull it off.  In the end, though, it will certainly make your experience all the better.

Top this experience off with being able to meet some of my fellow moderators on that forum in person and it was a fantastic way to start the new year!

Of course, whenever you have photographers there are bound to be photo sessions.  So, I was able to do is take part in a group shoot with a fantastic local model.  The shoot had well over ten models and thirty photographers but several old and new friends (Jake Morrow, Mark Gardner, Travis Hill, Jeff Newcum, and Jason Domingues) only shot with Jersey.  She had the attitude we were looking for.

Here are a few of my favorite shots.

Saritha and Austin

Weddings 4 Comments »

What a way to finish 2007!   Saritha looking incredible and Austin meeting her “high expectations”!

They had it all and I was priviledged to be there to capture their day.  Austin riding in on an elephant with a 20 piece brass band leading the way.  Saritha sneaking a peek at him from around the corner.  A lovely touching ceremony and a great party afterward in a magical underwater scene.

Saritha as an incredibly stunning bride.
