I had the pleasure of helping one of my good friends, Humza Yasin of Humza Yasin Photography at an engagement session recently.  I’ve known Humza for a few years now and we’ve always wanted to shoot together but have never been able to coordinate schedules.  When he called to let me know he was shooting an engagement session here in Houston and wanted some help, I jumped at the opportunity.

We spent most of Saturday afternoon scouting locations based on Malisha’s desired look.  We enjoyed a great dinner at one of my favorite restaurants (Churrasco’s) and chatting for a while.  On Sunday, we did the shoot.  Since he was going to get the main shots, I decided I’d play around and experiment some with my infrared camera and a toy camera lens I’ve adopted to one of my Canon 5D camera bodies.

It’s not often you get to experiment so this was a great day for me.  Let me know what you think.

Some with the infrared camera:

A couple with the toy lens.  It gives the images a somewhat unpredictable focus and really softens the edges.  The result - a somewhat “old fashioned” look and feel.

And finally, a regular shot with my regular gear.

Thanks, Humza, for letting me tag along.  I hope the locations were suitable for Malisha and Bhavesh.  I can’t wait to see what you got and look forward to the next time we get to work together!

Oh, Malisha and Bhavesh were great.  We had a great dinner together at Cabo and then shot some more downtown in the evening.  Guys, I wish you the very best together!
