OK…I’ll admit it, this is the longest blog post I’ve done but I think you’ll understand why after you read through it. If you make it through, I thank you!
I recently had the absolute pleasure of photographing Vivien and David’s wedding. I spent four incredible days with them in Cabo San Luca, Mexico, at the beautiful Riu Palace resort. The trip started by being picked driven to the airport and flying over with some of Vivien and David’s family. It was a great way to get to know some of them that I had not met before. After the short (about 2 1/2 hour) flight, we arrived and were greeted by this:

Of course, everyone immediately headed for the “lobby bar” where we were treated to some margaritas, mango “coolers”, and other fine beverages. We checked in and then went out to enjoy the resort and relax for a while.

The night culminated with a great dinner at the San Jose restaurant at the resort, a few more drinks while enjoying the Vegas style show, and a few more drinks. Everyone was having a great time in anticipation of the big event the next day…and the next day came soon enough.
Vivien chose to forego the traditional pillow for the rings and instead created a beautiful tropical themed carrier for the rings.

And of course, she proceeded to get ready with the help of her sister and several friends and change into a stunning bride.

Even Grant got into the act. As we joked, he got his best “James Bond” look!

Not to be outdone, David got himself ready also - but first he received a gift from Vivien. Breaking with tradition once again, Vivien got David a beautiful pair of boots instead of a watch or cuff links. He was tempted to wear them with his tux but decided against it.

Then the ceremony began. Just before sunset - overlooking the Sea of Cortes. You can’t ask for anything better than this. Vivien was escorted in by her proud father.

And the guests - from several different places in the US - watched and enjoyed paradise.

Rings were exchanged.

While Vivien’s sister looked on teary eyed.

The great kiss…

The joy of knowing you’re now husband and wife!

And off to enjoy the party…

The reception was held poolside AND overlooking the ocean - under a small sliver of a moon.

The dances begun. First, Vivien and David enjoyed their first dance together.

David danced with his mother.

And Vivien with her father.

After that, dinner was served. It consisted of a delicious ceviche appetizer, vegetable soup, and surf and turf dinner. Immediately after that, the cake was cut and served.

I will now go out on a limb and say that the highlight of the evening (sorry, Joe) was David singing a song to Vivien. Why? Well, quite simply he taught himself how to play the guitar starting earlier this year so he could do that. Wow.

This was followed by several speeches, including a very emotional speech by Vivien’s sister Francoise.

And Vivien’s son, Grant, came through with another tear jerker - and he did great!

David’s brother, Joe, not only gave a great speech but also demonstrated his crazy ability be showing a fully animated - think Pixar! - video of family photos. I was very impressed!

David’s dad wrapped up the speeches.

…and a toast from the newlyweds.

The next day, we all got up bright and early for a “day after” session. Vivien still looked amazing.

And David did his best as “the ultimate accessory”!

Of course, equal time must be given to both - and to the beautiful coastal landscape that is Cabo.

A few more portraits…

…and a chance to show off the new jewelry!

Vivien, David, you are an amazing couple and I wish you all the very best. I want to thank you, your family, and friends for making me feel so welcomed throughout the entire trip and for making sure I had a good time. I guarantee you - I DID!
